When choosing which attractions to visit, think about what activities you would like to do, and things you would like to see. Think about where you would like to visit, and what types of attractions you and your family will be interested in. Make sure you ask everyone in the family what they would like to do to make sure you all enjoy the holiday together.

Just remember that California is a large state. The climate changes drastically from north to south, and east to west. So if you are looking for attractions in San Francisco, but want a warm weather vacation in August, then think twice about San Francisco. We were there one August and it was quite cold and wet. However, if you want dry and warm, but don't want it to be scorching then look for attractions in LA or San Diego, not Palm Springs.

You will most likely choose your California tourist attraction based on where in California you will visit (It is a big state!).

Also think outside the box. If you are going to Los Angeles, then consider visiting Santa Monica, Hollywood, Malibu and Griffith Park. If you are visiting San Diego, maybe you will take a day trip to LA or Mexico.
