Easter Bunny from Tavern on the Green
Easter is almost here and it reminded me of the Easter weekend that Warren and I spent in New York City before we were married. New Yorkers really know how to celebrate Easter!
We stayed at the Stanhope (which I think is now a condominium property) on the upper east side across from the Met. It was a beautiful weekend, well except for the rain...It was April after all. We decided to have Easter brunch at Tavern on the Green, however because we booked it late we could only get a 10:30 am reservation. It hadn't started raining yet on Easter morning so we walked across Central Park and watched the kids do their Easter Egg Hunt - it was a huge event and the kids were having a blast!
We arrived at Tavern on the Green and it was decorated for Easter, with the Easter Bunny giving out gifts and clowns entertaining the kids. All the ladies were dressed in their Easter outfits and hats. The children all cleaned up wearing their new dresses and suits.
The food was good, but the Easter cheer was what made the brunch that more special. I mentioned to Warren that it wasn't fair that only the kids got the stuffed easter bunny toys. He agreed and was my hero and went and asked the Easter Bunny for one for me. That yellow Easter bunny still sits in my office to this day!
The rain started pouring down after brunch so we took a horse and buggy ride to the Met and spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the Met. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.
This was one of our favorite Easters together ever!

Rockefeller Center at Christmas Time
I have a wonderful childhood memory of a day in New York City. I grew up in Massachusetts, just south of Boston. When I was about 12 years old and my brother was 14, my parents took us on a bus trip to New York City for Christmas!
I remember eating lunch at Rockefeller Center and watching the ice skaters. We took our first ride in a Taxi. We shopped at Macy's and were each allowed to purchase one item as our Christmas gift for that year. I also remember my mother very carefully selecting a Christmas tree ornament at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Since we were on a bus trip we only had about 4 hours in the City before we had to head back to the bus. That 4 hour day in New York City at Christmas is one of my fondest childhood memories!
