The Getty Museum California, at the time I am writing this, is the number one rated attraction in Los Angeles, California. Something tells me there is something pretty incredible here for art and museum lovers or (in my case) even non museum and art lovers. I am sure that fact that it is a FREE attraction in Los Angeles helps its ranking!
The museum started by hosting the collection from the oil millionaire's, J. Paul Getty, private collection and grew from there. It is now a beautiful series of buildings designed by architect Richard Meier and sits on 750 acres of land. The collection includes works by Van Gogh, Monet and Cezanne, but the gardens are spectacular as well.

Parking for the J Paul Getty Museum is $15 but admission is free - You can take the Metro Rapid Line 761 that stops at the main gate on Sepulveda Blvd.
Parking is free after 5 pm on Saturdays.
Allow for 2 1/2 hours minimum.
Best time to visit is on a clear evening to see the sunset and views.
Make sure you pick up a map and plan your visit when you arrive to make the most of your time at the J Paul Getty Museum.
If you require an umbrella for sun or rain, there are umbrellas sitting at the entry of each building, just pick one up, use it and drop it at the next entry.
