This beautiful island in Indonesia and is a popular vacation spot for many different countries including Australia and Europe. When planning your Vacation, it is best to get an idea of the different areas of the island that you may want to stay in or visit.
Here is an overview of this island in Indonesia.
This is the most popular area for visiting as it close to the airport in Denpasar, and the popular tourist towns of Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Sanur and Jimbaran.
Denpasar is the major city center on the island, but not many tourists travel to the island to visit Denpasar. They usually land at the airport and move on to the other towns.
Jimbaran, South of Kuta, is home to many 5 star beach resorts with it's
sheltered beaches and great seafood restaurants. We chose Jimbaran as the Ayana
Resort & Spa is located here. We figured it would be a great location as it is
still close to Kuta and Seminyak if we want more going on. And we could do a day
trip up into Central Bali to visit Ubud and the Elephant Village.
Kuta is where the surfers are and is the most developed area on the islandi. You will find great shopping and night life. Since it is surfers central you can expect to find more budget accommodations and restaurants.
Legian is located in between Kuta and Seminyak and has an easier more laid back feel to it.
Sanur is a seaside beach resort area that is popular with older families.
Seminyak is quieter and more upscale sea side resorts and villas. You will find more fashionable restaurants and bars. It's the place to go for more upscale night life. Check out more ideas for hotels Seminyak Bali.
Located in the central mountain range of the island, it is the cultural center of the destination.
Central Bali is know for it's art, culture, temples and lakes. It is a large beautiful area that is home to most archaeological sites and 2 of the key 9 directional temples.
Most people visit this area when they are looking for a break from the sun and sand of Southern areas. Don't forget to check out the Monkey Forest if you are visiting the area.
Less visited then Central and South Bali but still great places to explore
West Bali - the least populated area on the islandi. The majority of it is West Bali National Park and protected areas. Quieter beaches and calmer diving and snorkelling then in the south. Check out Medewi Beach for surfing and a traditional fishing village.
North Bali - Known for black sand beaches and quiet. You will find the towns of Singaraja and Lovina. Lovina is great for a beachside holiday without the hectic pace of South Bali. Check out the Banjar Hot Springs and Gitgit Waterfalls.
East Bali - Natural habitat with lush forests, black sand beaches and an active volcano. You will find the seaside resort town of Candidasa and the ferries to Lombok.
Hong Kong - vibrant, exciting and historic. A great introduction to Asia, and an excellent family or romantic vacation idea.
