New York City Shopping at Syms
Well as I went to update this page I found out that as of January 2012, Syms has closed it's stores. So I guess you can disregard the next few paragraphs. We find that very sad as we have always found great bargains there.
So you know of any stores in Manhattan that are similar to Syms? Please share them in our New York Travel Guide or in our comments sections below.
Syms, with it's signature black walls, is one of our favorites. We love to find them whenever we travel. Warren likes to buy shirts, sports jackets and shoes there. You will find feature designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Kenneth Cole.
As their slogan says at Syms "An Educated Consumer is our Best Customer". If you know what you are looking for, you will find a great deal at Syms.
New York Shopping at Street Fairs
Street Fairs are a great way to find some amazing bargains. They are put on in
different neighborhoods on different days, especially in the spring and summer.
On our last trip we walked out of our hotel on 7th Avenue, right into the Times Square Street Fair. Loads of souvenirs, pashminas, socks, hats, bags, unique items, art, food, soaps, etc. etc.
You can find street fairs that only sell arts and crafts, clothes, books or fresh produce.
There are street fairs somewhere in the city pretty much every weekend, especially through the spring, summer and fall season.
