Night Time at Times Square
I love all the street vendors in New York City; all the various kinds of stores, especially in times square. It's a great place to take pictures, walk around, and explore. I love taking pictures, can never take enough. At night, it looks beautiful, illuminated by all the storefront and building lights. New York has the best comedy clubs I've been to, and New York pizza is no doubt the best. I hate the pollution though; Times Square has the heaviest traffic, but the most beautiful view. I come home smelling like exhaust when I'm done with my day in New York City.

Times Square in New York City is a dynamic place. There's a lot to see and to do. If you want shopping there are a huge number of shops that have all types of items that are good for souvenirs. If you want a NY tshirt, there are multitudes, keychains, mugs, etc. It's a nice place to be at night because of all the lights. You may also find a a concert going on outdoors in the summer. There is a huge selection of food available there as well. Finally the people watching is exceptional. There are so many people coming and going and they are so interesting that you could spend hours just watching the crowds going by.

One of the things that I love most about New York's Times Square is the overall grandiosity of the area. It is a clearly recognizable symbol of New York around the world, without a doubt. As a kid, I grew up watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve and always imagined what it would be like to see this in person. When visiting Times Square, it is truly an overwhelming hub of urban life. The neon lights, gigantic signs, billboards and ever present news streams are definitely a sight to be seen.
However, the immense draw of tourists from around the world has its drawbacks. Most notably, restaurants around Times Square are immensely overpriced. Even large chain restaurants, such TGI Fridays, take advantage of this tourist draw, and their prices are sometimes 20-40% higher than those in other parts of New York.
Despite these drawbacks, Times Square is certainly a place worth visiting, if only to see the sheer overwhelming aspects of the sight.

I absolutely love Times Square. I've lived in New York City for two years and despite the herding of people, Times Square is one of my favorite places to go. I love the atmosphere of the area, for the most part, everybody is in a great mood and having fun. Also, with the street vendors, people selling tickets, and taxis, it's the typical NYC you'd see in any movie which I feel makes it seem even more attractive. It's definitely my favorite place to be at night. The video screens and billboards stand out more at night which adds to the excitement. My favorite place to hang out in Times Square is the TKTS steps. This is a great viewing point of all of Times Square.
One of my favorite memories of Times Square is when I went out to dinner with my husband at the Olive Garden (it's our favorite Olive Garden to go to because of the location) and we had about a 45 minute wait, typical of them. But while we waited, we just sat outside on the TKTS steps and just people watched. It was a wonderful night and of course we had a wonderful dinner too.
I recommend Times Square to absolutely anyone. Whether it's just for a single visit and you are just stopping through NYC on a layover or have a week, definitely spend an evening there!
