Sydney is where most people fly into first when planning their Australian vacation. It is a great start to your adventure. It is a vibrant city, we compared it to Manhattan, but with a beautiful harbour, incredible landmarks, amazing history and some great day trips.
Make sure you spend at least 3 days here. One to tour the main part of the city, one to check out the beaches (Bondi or Manly beach) and maybe a suburb, and one to do a day trip to the Blue Mountains or the Wine Region.
Sydney is a city, and is not to be missed, however it is more like a western city than what you might picture Australia to be. So make sure you take in more of Australia than just this city when planning your holiday.

The morning after we arrived in Sydney, we set off to see the city. It was very cold that morning as it was August (their winter). We got a hot chocolate (or tea) and off we went.
